Importance of Branching Out to Other Platforms for Internet Marketing

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Before, we just had to deal with ensuring that our website would run on a browser. It was not hard a task to do, since almost browsers have the same format in displaying their sites. But nowadays, smartphones and tablets have become a mainstream part of being online, and what in the past would display well on a computer browser would appear different—not just on a phone or tablet, but also on an Android or iOS gadget.

Three statistics could no longer be ignored: (a) 91% of professionals utilize iPads;(b)12% of iPad users do not make use of the laptop; and (c) tablet traffic has been gauged mainly using the iPad. In such cases, if individuals see that your site is not supported by the gadget they most use, they would not consider linking or sharing with you.

This spells trouble for sites depending on Flash-created videos, or PDF reader documents. Since the iPad does not support the platforms needed to run these objects, the user is at a loss if he only uses the tablet. You might think, “why won’t he go to the trouble of opening up a normal computer to open it?” Well, he would have consumed time trying to do so.

It’s as if the iPad has become a best friend equal to canine status. You can no longer stick to what you’re used to; you need to reach out to your target market to get the links you want in this age of smartphones and tablets. And Google approves this message—the search engine is continually getting better in picking up the websites optimized through links and shares.

So here are the things you need to do in order not be left out:

1) Steer clear of utilizing audio/video/PDF viewers and players that are proprietary in nature. If  you need to advertise using them, try to come up with an infinitely stronger method of user agent detection which would allow the viewers to still acquire them.

2) Check that the content is not present on a mobile subdomain plus a normal domain as it would be troublesome when content is shared on mobile devices plus laptops.

3) Types and kinds of devices are just going to be on the upswing. Should you be making systems that are flexible amongst such platforms, link building will be better, more content will be shared, and in turn score high with the on site signals and metrics of the search engines.

Quick Social Media News not Always Accurate

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

An infographic here provides slight insight into the world of social media and news.

It’s popular to think that social media is replacing traditional news outlets as many people’s source of news. It’s popular because it is true. Of course, just because something is popular doesn’t mean it’s the right way to go. In fact, what is popular can often be confused with what is easier and oftentimes, easier produces inferior results.

The data in the infographic is intriguing and makes one wonder if people will learn to be more discerning as to where they get their news from or if we will continue down the road of not being able to tell fact from fiction in online news. Take a look for yourself.

Jump In On Apple’s Impressive Performance For Your Web Development

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Apple, which was launched as an alternative to the IBM universe, now lords it over the competition in the mobile field. The past quarter serves as proof, with above 37 million iPhones plus 15 million iPads that had been sold. This was their best performing quarters and its stock has gone up in NASDAQ’s performance chart.

There would be people who would say that the sudden growth would be because of profit margins for mobile phone sales. There is enough convicing data regarding Apple’s growth, and with the revenue share nearing Samsung’s profit shares seem to show 75% dominance in the entire market.

Revenue and profit margin for unit sales does not appear to be the whole story. Think that Apple has the ability for leverageing the image of the mobile devices to grab a big share of the app sales commissions, digital sales, renting and subscriptions. Even other competitors had to get a chunk of hardware and looked to give away free tablets to developers of apps.

As the market grows wider for Apple hopes to break records once more, with anticipation for the iPhone 5 and iPad 3. But the future would not appear like that of their competition. Apple though would have to have a better advertising platform. The iAds would have to be at par with Google.

If you do mobile marketing, you may want to consider the following:

1) Make the apps for the biggest mobile phones in order to leverage the hugest market shares. Apple will give great iOS emulators plus development kits however not the biggest turnaround time for app submissions, so you have to do this in advance.

2) Keep your expectations regarding large traffic or lead generation from Apple iAd low. The inventory would not just be ther yet. You would need to keep to Google plus Milennial Media for the buys on mobile.

3) Make sure everything is tracked. Mobile analytics have developed ove th years with a lot of data points for mobile device native code. Do not spend with no success measures ready. Apple had made a relaxation of third party analytics policy in the recent past, so capitalize on this.

4) Begin optimizing sites for famous mobile devices as well as those that have downloads like podcasts, apps and digital media. Consider HTML 5 to Flash for compatibility over at Apple.

Update Google+ Platform Office Hours Schedule

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Last week it is office hours, a developer programs engineer for Google. She gives a short demo of the new jQuery plugin that is making the rounds around the Google+ development scene. The source code is available for you to try out now, but it suggests you check out Murphy’s live coding tour of the software first.

After showing off jQuery, Murphy answers user questions for the rest of the office hours. One thing that should make a certain developer pretty happy is that you can sign up for a Google+ Platform Preview account. This allows you to see and mess around with pre-release versions of Google+. It’s especially useful for developers who make a Google+ application and don’t want to see it break when new major changes hit the Google+ platform.

Murphy also addresses some other concerns regarding Google+ APIs and updates to potential problems regarding a conflict between Google Analytics social actions and the +1 button count. It was also announced that moderation tools are not coming to Hangouts yet, but Google is listening to all the feedback regarding this.

Finally it is announced that sees a change to the Google+ Platform Office Hours schedule. It used to be that the Google+ team would do one every week. They are cutting back soon to a twice a month schedule so they can focus on higher quality content in the hangouts.

Follow Proffesional Update With Linkedlin Adds Ability

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

When you follow a brand on Facebook it’s just as you like it. But when we talk about LinkedIn, do you follow companies on LinkedIn?  The B2B social network sure hopes so and they’re working to make those follow connections more meaningful.

LinkedIn started moving out two new products for promoters. The first is known as Targeted Up-dates. This is the capability to deliver updates to only a particular part of your fan list. New item reports to customers, application updates to customers, job reports to higher education graduates who never already work for your company, etc.

Launching Follower Statistics, a self-service look at who is sharing and engaging with your content.

Both of these sound like pretty useful services, but I do wonder how many people would actually use them. Perhaps I’m in the minority, but I use LinkedIn to follow people I am or have been associated with. I don’t think of it as a place to follow companies that interest me.

How LinkedIn is used by the user which is the essential part of the business. Do you use it to network? Do you use it to market your goods? Or is it just another social media time-waster that you could easily do without.

New Features for Microsoft AdCenter

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Microsoft has recently put new additions in their update for the January 2012 adCenter release.

Three major additions were mentioned:

· AdCenter has made an increase to the ad description length at one additional character from 70 to 71. This was done to aid in import issues from other products which are advertising.

· There would a fast campaign budget overview widget for you to claim the budgets at once.

· AdCenter has also put in more mobile ad targeting to have you do it on mobile OS including iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows.

With the new features in AdCenter, you should seriously begin to ramp up your campaign efforts in Bing, it being the toughest competitor for Google. While most individuals would opt to concentrate on Google for their SEM efforts, they forget the fact that Bing has its loyal search base as well, considerably growing after the decline of Yahoo.

To add to it, advertising both on Google and Bing would be hitting two birds with one stone. (Include Yahoo in the mix and that would make it three birds.) You should allocate your budget in such a way that all search engines are catered in accordance with your goals. And make sure you have a keyword tool that could offer you data for all search engines. We recommend KeywordSpy’s Tracking  feature, which monitors the performance of keywords among Google, Bing and Yahoo, and gives you the domains performing well for those keywords, the ad-keyword combinations they use and the metrics that are pertinent to your research.

Social Conversation Calendar

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

When Managing a Social Channel like Facebook, whether it be for your Brand or one that you manage, putting to task a Conversation Calendar can be an invaluable tool. One that is not utilized enough in Social Media Management because it is often deemed as not necessary.

Some reasons for implementing:

Way of Keeping Your Facebook Business Page Organized-

It always helps to have a structure to your Facebook Business Page – not only does it help to keep it more organized and looking professional, it keeps your Facebook Fans coming back for your engaging content; they know what to expect and when to expect it. If they saw something engaging on a Tuesday and you have told them that there will be similar or continuing content the following Tuesday – they will be looking out for it and coming back.

Set Fan’s Expectations and ‘Cliff-Hangers’ Keep Them Coming Back-

If your Brand Page’s user enjoys a particular post on a Tuesday, let them know that there will be another installment next Tuesday, and leave them wanting more.

Plan Resources to Keep the Facebook Conversation Going-

Social Media Management sites or and firm like Builditz.com can schedule the types of posts for the different days; much easier to plan with a Conversation Calendar. But the most essential task is to keep the conversation going.

The key here is – if you know that your Tuesday post is most popular, you know you should assign someone to monitor for that day to talk with your Fans, or at least get your best Facebook Jockey on the case! A SMM firm like Builditz would already have a Campaign running and would be monitoring accordingly.

Enables You to Analyze Your Audience and Post Timings More Accurately-

Keeping your posts organized and topics assigned to each day makes their impact easier to measure. Use Facebook Insights to measure and analyze this or consult your SMM firm; Builditz is always available to help with SMM Campaign tactics and uses.
