Facebook Post Display Private Location Of User

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Several Facebook users have noticed the recent change where some posts are now showing the location of the user who submitted the post. And the map appears as a hyperlinked location tag at the end of a wall post after the “Like . . .” and “Date.”

Because the new map feature is an element of Facebook’s Timeline that Facebook users are now need to use, many different users have posted suggestions on the forum regarding solutions for maintaining privacy in light of the new map feature.

A Monday thread on Facebook’s Community Forum focused on how to remove both the links to the map and location tags on the map itself. This Facebook forum thread described how users, who are wishing to keep their posting location unknown, can remove a link to the map from the front of their Timeline. It also noted that this same technique can be used to remove other unwanted links from the user’s Timeline.

This forum post also highlighten the removing links to the map will not disable the map itself, and the map will stay active on the user’s Timeline under its own URL (facebook.com/your.username/map/). However, identifying and untagging locations that appear on the user’s map URL page will help the user further protect his or her privacy.

Google estimated approx 6 million URLs search removal requests in the last month as copyright holders continue their fight against sites offering copyrighted content for download.

Also Google revealed the level of the search removal requests in the latest update to its Transparency Report Page. In the past month, the numbers are:

• 5,678,030: URLs requested to be removed

• 31,628: Specified domains

• 1,845: Copyright Owners

• 1,376: Reporting organizations

Requests submitted to the search giant peaked at 1.49 million the week of August 13, compared to 156,708 in the same time period in 2011. The second highest week this year was August 20, which saw the company receive 1.42 million requests to remove results, up from 91,985 during the same weekly period last year.

The requests are made to Google under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DCMA), which removes liability from the firm if it provides inadvertent access to sites offering illegal material, if they comply with requests to remove content flagged by rights’ holders.

Google’s Transparency Report comprise requests sent via Google’s web form and doesn’t comprise copyright removal requests for other products, such as YouTube or Blogger.

Bing Continues Promote Social Sidebar In Search

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Social question-and-answer site Quora has been added to Bing’s social sidebar.

Only when you logged into Bing, you will initiate to see answers to those questions which given by top contributors to the social network Quora in the social sidebar of your results. As you hover over a person’s name, a pop-up will appear showing the answers shared about a particular topic related to your search.

When Bing’s social sidebar first appeared, Bing began returning results your Facebook friends had shared. More recently, they expanded that concept, allowing you to tag friends in search results to ask their opinions.

The concept of social results to Bing is simple: tap into the “collective wisdom of your social network” to help you make decisions about what you’re searching.

Bing has kept their relationship with Twitter, expanded their relationships with Facebook this spring and summer, and now has added Quora into the mix. Clearly, Bing is continuing to work more toward an immersive user experience in search.

As Bing continues to promote their social bar in search and other non-traditional advancements, do you happy with these changes? Are you any more included to use Bing? Does this help or not?

Facebook Inserting Sponsored Ads Into The Search Results

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Facebook’s search engine has driven me mad on several events. The fact that it only allows me to search for an exact name and not related sites look like counter perceptive.

So, it very exciting, that Facebook is now inserting sponsored ads into the results based on the aim, not the word.

When it is searched with the word Single, got a list of applications and pages with the word “single” but I also got an ad for Match.com.

Here is great way as we have all learned to use the word “Sponsored” instead of “Advertisement” because it sounds less spammy.

Then it is surprised if these new Sponsored Search Ads could work. Again it is highlighted that people don’t use Facebook search to find information, they use it to find a precise thing. But may going to change. If Facebook could start returning more perceptive results, the world could be retrained to search in more general terms.

It’s a step in the right direction, both for advertisers and toward the advancement of a better search tool.

Upset Comments Found On Facebook Shows Less User Friendly

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Facebook is starting to do a lot more things to provide to businesses, but in process is it becoming less user-friendly? Now that the company is public, it’s going to have to keep investors happy, and that means making money – hence all of the advertising-related changes we’re seeing. This week, Facebook stock hit its lowest point so far, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg has apparently found to be quite painful. I wonder what additional monetization strategies are in store for Facebook’s future.

When Facebook released its first earnings report last month, it announced that it has 955 million active users, with 552 of them using Facebook on a daily basis. Facebook’s great challenge will be to keep those numbers growing, rather than slipping, while also finding more ways to make money off of them. Hopefully, for users’ sake, they’ll be able to do it in ways that aren’t annoying.

Facebook is currently testing the aspect that could turn off a lot of users – promoted posts in the News Feed from pages that you don’t “like” and that not even your friends “like”. If this moves beyond the testing phase, you’ll start seeing more ads in your News Feed, and for things that you quite possibly have no interest in or even a social connection to.

It is quoted by Facebook, “Starting soon, we are beginning a very small test that will allow marketers to promote page posts to people beyond their fans in the news feed”.

It is also found that a user commented in a disappointed manner on promoted posts. This was a type of post that appears in the News Feed, and shows you when one or more of your friends “likes” a certain page, and shows a recent post from that page. It depend on your post, these friends may not always be delighted with the display.

This is in the process to find ways to keep a lot of Facebook users more interested. It’s a good thing of Facebook which is alike Twitter. The Timeline is quite nice, despite those who hate it.

How SEO Clients Can Get By Their Marketing Writer’s Block

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

The most persistent content marketing issue for writers would be that they are not able to write. They always struggle in trying to conjure up topics for the blog which would indicate that content would not be made on a basis that is regular. Because of this, the blog does not appear as convincing for SEO as it ought to be. Should any of your clients be undergoing content marketing writer’s block, here are a couple of ideas to impart to them to set them free:

A. Utilize other industry blogs to inspire you:

As the competition is proceeding to do the same kind of customer or reader, should the online competition be writing regarding something, it may probably be a good topic for clients to make blog posts. Such an idea would not work if the competition is relating its own products, but industry trends and best practice tips as well as informational posts are good inspiration for your clients.

Through placing tabs on what the competition is writing, the clients are also able to pinpoint what the competition is not making articles on—what information gaps would be in existence that have to be filled so that the client would stand out? What are the keywords not targeted much. You would want to give the client content the best possible chance of being located In the search engines and read through interested visitors. Should they put out a new niche for a couple of the blog posts, they become the authority for such a topic.

One way one could aid clients locate good topics via competitors is informing them of the blogs that the team has made comments on with regard to the link building strategy. One would do the upfront research and find blogs and click each link and skim posts to see the idea.

B. Require Customer Service to Track Questions:

Customer service of the clients and sales representatives would be front line employees. These would be the ones that are interacting with customers per day, so they would know the type of information the audience would be searching for. Make recommendations to the clients that the front line employees should jot down all questions a customer would ask, then answer the questions in a blog post.  Should the customer service team always hear the same questions, you would recognize that it would be pertinent information the audience would be looking for. Since many people are looking online for answers before customer service is called, through writing up such posts, the client would actually be making for a better customer experience. Simple questions may be answered online through blog posts and FAQs, while more in-depth questions are to be handled by the customer service department.

C. Do A Breaking Up of White Papers or Webinars into short posts:

Site owners would spend a lot of hours placing together white papers or webinars without leveraging them as well as they had intended. There is a lot of great information that is placed in the pieces of content that a large segment of the audience is not to view or read. Have clients do a breaking up of white papers in blog posts that are smaller, each with a center on a particular piece of information. They may even put a link the post to the white paper in order that readers would be able to download it. Have clients slice webinars in the same manner. Visitors could not desire going through the hour long webinar at the moment but a 1-3 minute video would be a good source of information. Videos may also serve as a good break from text posts and could bring in a few new visitors.

D. Do An Interview of Employees and Customers:

Should the client be strapped of ideas, you should have them carry out some self promotion. Clients ought to carry out one promotional blog post for around 10 informational topics, however, it would be the company blog after all, so why not refer the company story? Have clients do interviews of the employees, anyone from the CEO down to the new sales guy. Ask them why they are intent on working for the company, what would make the company plus the products awesome, or if they have customer stories to impart. Such interviews, either text or video, would be an awesome way for your clients to make the company more human and have a face behind the brand.

The clients could also do an interview of happy customers and pick out the testimonials from it. So why is it that they opted to work with the client’s organization? What do they desire of their products/ services? Such client testimonials would be an awesome way to put trust in potential customers, including fodder for the company blog.

E. Try to start from keywords and let the content flow from there:

As long as you have an idea of the keywords you want to rank for, you will be able to eventually come up with good ideas for the content and ad copies you intend to formulate. Try to study the keyword and know its value to the users you intend to target.

To help you find the ideal keywords, you should look to keyword tools to search for your competitor domains and see the keywords that they use. If such a keyword is profitable based on the tool’s metrics, by all means employ it.

Or you could do a search on a particular keyword you use and look to the different varieties of how they are used across platforms. You could consider a keyword’s misspellings, or those who have meanings related to them, or even those that are similar in construction. Once you get this extra keyword information, you can escape the rut caused by the writing block.

KeywordSpy is one such tool that allows for searching both ideas for domain and keywords. With proprietary technology that monitors the movement of domains across a 127 million keyword list, you will be sure to get the most accurate idea for base keywords for your site.

Mesh the searched keywords well with the content and you will be able to make yourself more visible on search. In addition, you will be considerable safe from Google Panda updates content wise. (Though you should also consider the page images and site construction as well.)
