Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

To translate the captions yourself, select the language, and it’ll open up the caption translation document in the Google Translator Toolkit editor to help your translate faster.”

“To give you context on the captions, we’ve also embedded the YouTube video in the editor so you can watch as you translate,” the company notes. “For several languages we will offer first draft of the translation using Google’s machine translation technology. We’ll also provide preview of what the translated caption looks like on the video so you can make sure the translated captions fit.”

FTC Decision Depend On Google Antitrust Action

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz said at antitrust symposium sponsored by Georgetown Law School in Washington DC, that the commission was “on track” to decide on whether or not to pursue an antitrust case against Google “by the end of the year.”

However, if the FTC were to bring a case before November it might be used as fodder for the critique that Washington is trying to get in the way of “job creating industries.”

Again it is quoted “We have not decided as a commission what we’re going to do, where we’re going to go with respect to Google . . . We’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing – we’re weighing the evidence, we’re thinking it through, in a collective, collaborative bipartisan way.”

Yet a new FTC nominee Joshua Wright, who has bi-partisan support, disfavors antitrust action against Google. According to an article appearing in Politico, in addition to being a law professor, “Wright is also listed as a senior adjunct fellow for TechFreedom, a think tank that Google has listed as among the groups at which it sponsors policy fellows.”

The momentum against formal litigation appears to be in Google’s favor. Sensing that, just yesterday, anti-Google lobbying group FairSearch announced some high-profile new members (including Nokia and Oracle) and “warned” the FTC and European Commission not to settle for tepid or symbolic remedies against Google.

The company said that the team at privately-held Nik, which offers services similar to Instagram, would be joining Google effective September 17. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

While the role Nik’s team will take in Google wasn’t outlined, the deal would likely be used to bolster the company’s web services and social networking operations.

Based out of San Diego and Germany, Nik develops a number of photo editing and imaging tools and plug-ins.

“For nearly 17 years, we’ve been guided by our motto, ‘photography first’, as we worked to build world class digital image editing tools,” Nik said in a statement announcing the deal. “We’ve always aspired to share our passion for photography with everyone, and with Google’s support we hope to be able to help many millions more people create awesome pictures.”

Google senior vice president of engineering Vic Gundotra, exposed the deal as part of a pair of announcements in a Google+ post. In addition to the Nik deal, Gundotra exposed the latest Google+ usage figures.

It is written in the post of Gundotra “It was only a year ago that we opened public sign-up, and we couldn’t have imagined that so many people would join in just 12 months”. “While Google+ is all about creating a better experience across Google, it’s also a destination.”

The figures are good news for Google but it is still has a long way to go catch up with Facebook which has over 900 million users, although more than 83 million profiles are thought to be fake.

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Some things happened which caused me to do a digital self evaluation:

• My Meta descriptions on my blog weren’t showing correctly.

• Inadvertently I deleted my blog about page.

• Google sent me an email that they were going to start integrating my Gmail into my search results.

After noticing the above aspects, I have started thinking about my site and my social media presence in different terms which could perhaps use up.

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

TorrentFreak reports Google has removed The Pirate Bay from showing up in Google’s search suggestions within Google Instant Search.

Google Instant Search will auto-complete the search phrase based on search popularity and other factors. Prior to today, Google would auto-complete for the domain thepiratebay but now, Google has added that to their piracy filter list.

In January 2011, Google removed many piracy related searches from showing up in Instant Search. They included the popular piracy sites and terms “torrent,” “BitTorrent” and others.  Google has decided to filter the list of piracy “The Pirate Bay”.
