AdWords Rolls Out Salesforce AccountLinking for Automated Conversion Imports

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under KeywordSpy

Early this summer, Google announced it was launching, via invite, a way to automatically import Salesforce data into AdWords. That function now appears to be rolling out generally.

Salesforce.com is an option available under the Linked accounts menu. This morning was the first time I noticed it, though it may have started rolling out earlier.

Once set up, the linking enables the Google Click ID (GCLID) to pass to Salesforce whenever a user completes a conversion action like filling out a lead or downloading a whitepaper after clicking on an ad. Marketers select the milestone events in Salesforce they want to pass back into AdWords. AdWords then automatically checcks Salesforce on a regular basis to import those milestones and log them as corresponding conversion events at the keyword level.

To make this work, marketers will need to have a GCLID field in Salesforce, ensure their lead forms capture the GCLID, and save the GCLID in a cookie on their websites.

LI Latest APP Brings Youngs In Social Network For Jobs

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under KeywordSpy

LinkedIn has released an app that has the potential to bring in more young people to its social network. The new app, appropriately titled LinkedIn Students, is made specifically for helping college students in their efforts to find jobs after graduation.

The app assists students with everything from creating a profile, finding their career path, and locating relevant job postings. Where the app shines as an extension of a social network is the fact that it can also help students connect with alumni who studied the same subject in school.

To be sure, this app is most definitely for students and graduates. Some of the more experienced LinkedIn users, or professionals with greater levels of experience, may find the app lacking compared to LinkedIn’s flagship app.

What’s interesting to note is that college students are actually LinkedIn’s fastest growing user demographic at the moment, with over 40 million of them already registered. However, there is still some apprehension amongst young people to join the network, and the company wants to keep the momentum going.

According to Ada Yu, a product manager at LinkedIn, the number one reason why students don’t join LinkedIn is because they don’t yet consider themselves to be a professional. “They don’t have that network yet, and they don’t know what to put on their profile,” says Yu.

LinkedIn Students helps remove those barriers by guiding students through the process of creating a complete profile, then showing them how to use that profile to navigate the social network to connect with other professionals and apply for jobs.

The app is available on both iOS and Android.

Twitter Will Not Included Names, Images and Urls

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under KeywordSpy

Twitter officially announced May 24 that @names will also not be included in the character count. You also don’t have to add a period before usernames for them to be seen in followers’ feeds.

The days of forcing abbreviations so you can fit your text and a photo under Twitter’s 140-character limit will soon be history. Further, Twitter will no longer count images and URLs in its character limit.

Attaching photos and inserting URLs into tweets currently use as many as 24 characters each—a precious 17% of Twitter’s total maximum character limit—understandably creating hurdles for those who hope to include multiple types of media in a single tweet.

Considering tweets with images increase engagement by 313%, juggling character count with images (and often a URL on top of that) has become almost a necessity.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s interest in new ways to adapt Twitter’s character count was first seen earlier this year when the microblogging site added the option to add image captions that did not count against the character limit. Rumors that Twitter would be increasing their character limit from 140 to 10,000 characters also surfaced earlier this year. Dorsey aptly responded by tweeting a large screenshot of text. He announced that, after observing many users using screenshots to share longer text, Twitter would be rethinking current rules and looking for alternatives to add more characters to tweets.

Today’s announcement seems to reflect that when Dorsey wrote, “We’re not going to be shy about building more utility and power into Twitter for people. As long as it’s consistent with what people want to do, we’re going to explore it,” he meant it.

How To Highly Boost Your Local PPC Marketing

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing, KeywordSpy

PPC would not be something you would be able to predict. Conscious as we are, it would not always end up exact. But there are ways you can end up a failure with a PPC account, and there happen to be 5 of them. Avoiding Perspective: An account that would have an average CPC of around $.20 would be very different from the one at $10.00. While you know this for a concept, it would very easy to lose perspective when managing accounts should you be switching between each. Of course, you may not go up the bids for a $.20 average CPC account to $10.00 on an accident. However you could raise it $.30. And should you not have intentions in trying to put up cost/cost per ad and keyword conversion by half its total percentage, you will be shocked upon your next Adwords login. Over -optimization: We may experience a bad week or two, plus gone into accounts furiously and starting to fix them. The thought process would be right but it could end up over-optimization.

Centering Your Attention on Either Yesterday, Today or Tomorrow: Following the lines of over-optimization, one more way to make sure you would fail at CPC would be looking at a small window in the comparison of results to goals. Having a focus on what has happened in the past, or what is happening today, as well as spiking results tomorrow would get you in a cycle that is vicious. Such a cycle will cost more time, stress as well as long-term results. You should instead inspect longer time lines and have an understanding that at times you would need to sacrifice results tomorrow to implement better structure, strategy plus results in the following weeks.

Google Warns Site Owners For Non Mobile Friendly Sites In Mobile Search Results

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing, KeywordSpy

Google is now issuing a new type of warning to site owners if their site is not mobile-friendly. The new warnings show directly in the mobile search results, but only to the site owner, when Google knows that the searcher is the owner of the site.

Jennifer Slegg has an old site that is not mobile-friendly, and she reported that when she views the site in the mobile search results, it says to her in the snippet, “Your page is not mobile-friendly.” That message is a hyperlink to a Google help page about mobile-friendly.

Here is what Jenn sees as the site owner of a non-mobile-friendly website:

This new warning comes a month prior to Google boosting the mobile-friendly algorithm.

John Mueller of Google confirmed this is an experiment they are trying out to see if it helps boost mobile-friendliness.
