Foursquare and Google Would Be Great Partners

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Foursquare announced the expansion of its Venues API today, as part of its Venues Project. This allows developers to tap into information about places so they can see what’s popular in real time, tag photos, drinks, and other data, and do things like build neighborhood photo or tip browsers to create local resources. Foursquare CEO Dennis Crowley said at SXSW that they want to work with anyone with venue ideas. Check-ins will always be the core product, he said, but this adds to the service.

Crowley said that he is not opposed to potential Facebook Places integration, but Foursquare doesn’t hear demand for it very often. They’re trying to prioritize other things first. Crowley also said that he’s tight with Google and that it would be a great partner if the timing was right, and that they would “probably” partner with them. On the company blog, Foursquare says:

This is just the start of making location as easy as possible to integrate. One huge part of the Venues Project, which we’ve now made some headway on, is building a comprehensive Venue Harmonization Map. Right now, there’s no Rosetta Stone for location, allowing you to link information about a real-world place from one database to any other. For instance, if you look up a restaurant in the foursquare API, we give you our ID number for that location.

Foursquare says its vision is to “create a powerful platform for users of any application that helps share and find experiences in the real world and, also, to build a foundation for any location-based service to use the easiest and most comprehensive database of the real world in history.”

Microsoft’s IE9 Launch Scheduled For March 14th

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Monday, March 14th may come to mark a significant turning point in the browser wars.  Microsoft’s announced that it will make the final version of Internet Explorer 9 available for download on Monday, starting at 9 PM Redmond time.

This is an important moment for the company.  From a business perspective, Chrome has been gaining market share at a rapid pace, and Firefox also represents a threat of sorts, so the success of IE9 will determine whether or not Microsoft remains dominant in this space.

From a point of view related more to PR and geek cred, IE9 which is supposed to introduce all sorts of advanced features will help shape many people’s opinions of Microsoft, since it and Windows probably act as the two biggest points of contact.

Finally, in the event anyone’s just interested in the sheer fun factor of the launch, Ryan Gavin, Senior Director of Internet Explorer Business and Marketing, wrote on The Windows Blog, “We also have a heck of party planned celebrating the amazing developers and designers who are creating a more beautiful web.   So the release of IE9 should be worth monitoring from just about any perspective.

Keep your fingers crossed that everything goes well.  After all, a better browser will benefit everyone in the end.

Using Your Phone As Your Credit Card Could Be Coming To U.S. Soon

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

While using your mobile phone to make purchases has been around in Europe and Asia for a number of years, there always seem to be some legal or financial hurdle stopping it being offered in the United States. Well not any more, if reports by Internet Retailer are accurate.

In a move that could one day replace wallets with mobile phones, three major wireless carriers AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless have signed on to participate in a mobile payments network that uses smart phones and Near Field Communication technology to enable consumers to use their phones to pay for goods in stores. Apart from the skepticism and fear of losing your phone and your credit information at the same time, the technology still needs to be adopted by retailers.

The long-standing barrier blocking wireless providers from launching mobile payments has always been credit. A carrier might feel comfortable letting a consumer buy a cheap digital download like a ringtone or a game and charging it to a phone bill, but they are doubtful of extending big lines of credit. That’s why getting mobile payments going full steam requires getting banks and other credit card issuers on board.

The biggest part of this is the increased power of mobile technology. Tie it in to mobile marketing, like the checking of inventory availability and your cell phone becomes the ultimate connected tool.

Amazon launches Shape Search for Shoes

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Amazon.com today introduced a new visual search feature for shoppers looking to purchase men’s and women’s shoes. The new visual search feature allows people to browse for shoes based on how they look with the aim of helping them find the styles they want more quickly. With the launch of this new search feature, finding the right pair of shoes becomes even easier for customers.

The customer is presented with a palette of shapes, representing different styles of shoes and that palette is constantly changing to match the customer’s context. Because the styles are shown graphically as silhouettes, customers don’t even need to know the name of the styles they are exploring.

The new visual shape feature is integrated with existing navigation, including price range, brand and color.

Amazon says its shape search feature relies on global and local shape contour descriptions, along with texture descriptions, computed using algorithms developed by A9.com, a subsidiary of Amazon.

Article Marketing Formula

Posted by peterzmijewski | Filed under Internet Marketing

Follow these rules to conquer the Article Marketing segment.

1. Create Daily Routine For Your Article Writing And Article Marketing

Remember that article writing is the main soul of article marketing. When you stock more and more articles every day, your article promotion campaign can be even more regent. So define certain schedule for your article marketing campaign. I myself always trace articles when I glow with the supreme power of my brain. It is usually in the free hours. But I do article submission in the evenings when I feel tired and am not able to concentrate enough well to write quality articles

2. Submit A Certain Number Of Articles Every Day.

It is very important to distribute new articles to top content directories each and every day. Because from SEO point of view, it is better to arrange 5 articles per day, than 10 articles every other day. Search engines elevate physical, standing link building, so in this way your sites can bother higher pagerank within a few months and get more and more sales day by day.
